Description:
Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, the elite Army bomb squad unit come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb.
Review:
The Hurt Locker is a serious study of the form and tense, tense action thriller once. The substantive issues - expert working bomb, probably one of the most nerve employment shelving world - give more tension but Bigelow manages to squeeze every bit of tension premise. This film I've been really apolitical - but in Iraq, it is different from many of the Iraq war-themed films in that it focuses more on the work itself rather than political environment. Iraq seemed more like background - other war, The Hurt Locker does not preach on this story specifically. The one is deeply emotional show exactly osóbw life hell. Jeremy Renner gives very high performance EOD officer totally dependent on the adrenaline flowing from the daily goals death. All closing aspects of the film are top notch, with great script subversion through vivid cinematography, directing and editing master perfectly paced. In his story, the filmmakers wisely to break with traditional methods of Hollywood narrative. There is no clear antagonist, no action is growing, not obvious character development and climax. Yet the film manages to be more interesting, tension and suspense than any Hollywood thriller I've seen in years and still strong but subtle statement about the rampant addiction that is war. Kudos to all those involved for the production of this film without compromising. This is pure quality, cinematic storytelling at its best, the thinking man's action movie.
